Helicopters characterististically exhibit large amplitude vibration at low frequencies caused by the main rotor induced shears and moments. One means of reducing this vibration level is by rotor isolation. That is, the isolation of the fuselage from rotor induced shears and moments. Under sponsorship of Eustis Directorate, USAAMRDL, Kaman Aerospace has conducted rotor isolation programs utilizing the Dynamic Antiresonant Vibration Isolator (DAVI). A summary of the analytical, full scale shake test and flight test rotor isolation programs are discussed.
