Utilization of Hydraulic Petroleum Fluids as Brake Fluids 770849

ABSTRACT

The performance of hydraulic petroleum fluids is compared to that of conventional synthetic fluids used in motor vehicle braking systems.

Water tolerance tests were made with a laboratory apparatus to study the vapor lock properties. Different parameters which can affect “vapor lock” have been studied, such as:

influence of dissolved water,

influence of free water,

influence of the quality of seals used in the braking systems.
