Drawing data from two separate surveys of vehicle owners, this paper addresses two fuel economy issues: importance of fuel economy and acceptance of selected technologies associated with improving fuel economy.
Fuel economy is growing in importance and the Federal Mileage Program is perceived to have some usefulness. On the other hand, there is marked indifference about many of the technologies and resistance to those technologies increases with age.
