Most powder metal part manufacturers use endothermic atmospheres in the sintering of parts. The natural gas crisis resulted in problems for endo users and began a search for alternative atmospheres. This search led to Union Carbide's atmosphere system which is more than an acceptable substitute for endothermic atmospheres.
