Ames Research Center Life Sciences Payload Project for Spacelab Mission 3 831094

A Research Animal Holding Facility has been developed to support rodent and squirrel monkey animal husbandry in the Spacelab environment. While successful ground testing will assure satisfactory performance in 1-g, verification of the hardware under weightless conditions must be performed in space. This verification will be achieved on the Spacelab Mission 3 flight.
This paper describes the configuration and function of the Payload hardware elements, the assembly and test program, the operational rationale and the scientific approach to Payload evaluation for this flight.
