It is described the present status of Bosch's engine management system and its performance in the field. Recently some new functions were introduced: the idle speed control, the adaptive λ- control and the exhaust gas recirculation. These subsystems are described in more detail together with some results obtained with them. Some further remarks are made on subsystems which will be integrated in the near future: the knock control, the sequential fuel injection and the diagnostic concept.
