Computer Aided Compliance - A Tool to Increase the Inherent Safety of Vehicles 851186

Computer simulation makes it possible to evaluate the safety relevant characteristics of a vehicle in an early stage of the development of a vehicle. The scatter of dummy loads can be reduced by computer simulation of the dummy deceleration. Computer simulation of passenger compartment deceleration permits both estimates of the behavior of the vehicle in frontal barrier impacts and estimates of the influence of this front structure to the struck car in frontal and side impacts. So computer aided compliance could ultimately prove to be an effective tool for governments and manufacturers to reduce the numbers and complexity of crash tests for safety compliance.
