The Development and Delivery of Post Trade Training and Retraining for the Automotive Industry--Tafe Victoria Initiatives 852246
This paper deals with two major initiatives undertaken in 1985
by TAFE (Technical and Further Education) in Victoria, Australia,
in conjunction with the Victorian Motor Industry Training
Committee, Vehicle Manufacturers, and the State Government of
Victoria.
These initiatives reflect the impact of the new technologies of
the modern motor vehicle and the subsequent need to establish a co-
operative training model with the Automotive Industry to meet the
post trade training and retraining needs of the industry
workforce.
The paper discusses the establishment of a model whereby Post
Trade courses can be developed and provided to all who wish to
retrain and upgrade their skills. The paper also describes the
establishment of a High Technology Research and Development Centre
for the Automotive Industry which will facilitate, in co-operation
with the Vehicle Manufacturers, the process of Post Trade course
development and delivery.
