High Temperature Wear Properties of Seat Insert Alloys 860150

Hot wear properties of both cast and powder metal Insert alloys have been determined using experimental design and statistical analysis techniques. One of the newly developed powder metals alloys (VMS-643) shows promise as a potential “heavy-duty” insert material. This alloy ranked the highest in screening tests for hot-wear resistance. A positive correlation is shown between the ranking of the hot-wear screening tests and actual engine dynometer tests.
