Coordination of International Needs for Lubricant Quality 861510

A Steering Committee on International Lubricant Specifications within SAE was formed in 1983. This Committee has been renamed the SAE Steering Committee on Worldwide Lubricant Test Methods. This paper is a progress report of initiatives of the Steering Committee in cooperating with other technical societies and groups throughout the world in determining the need and feasibility of International lubricant specifications. Responding to a survey, five of the six SAE Fuels and Lubricants Division Technical Committees for lubricants identified a need for such specifications and supported further actions of the Steering Committee.
