TEXMAS - An Expert System for Gas Turbine Engine Diagnosis and More 871737

TEXMAS, one of several expert systems currently being developed by Textron Lycoming, will aid gas turbine engine maintainers through the application of advanced electronic equipment and computer methods. TEXMAS (Turbine Engine E Xpert Maintenance Advisor System) is being implemented for the T53 engine.
Using a portable computer containing an expert system, the maintainer will have access to the expert assistance of many experienced mechanics as well as the theoretical engineering knowledge of engine operation. This knowledge, coupled with precise sensor measurements and other information supplied by the maintainer and crew will be used to define the specific repair needed to restore the engine to operational status.
