The Influence of Polyurethane Foam on the Heat Staining of Instrument Panels 880507

Under thermal and light stress the surface of an instrument panel suffers discoloration and embrittlement. The degree and velocity of decomposition is dependent not only on the quality of the PVC skin but also on the interaction with the backing Polyurethane foam.
Mechanisms of this interaction are discussed and ways of improvement are outlined.
