Vehicle Weight Reduction 883104

This paper discusses various methods for reducing the total weight of vehicles which in turn would increase the payload. Weight savings can be achieved in the design and the choice of materials used. Current and future trends will be in the use of composite materials and light alloys, although cost absorption is still a problem in the manufacture of trailers and semi-trailers. However, short-term, these new materials will be used in the manufacture of certain parts, such as suspension components.
