Factors Affecting the Formulation of Non-Asbestos Gasket Materials 910206
A brief description of the differences between asbestos and non-asbestos formulations of sheet materials used in gaskets are discussed. The beater addition process for the manufacture of non-asbestos formulations is described. Various test methods used to test non-asbestos gasket materials are cited. The use of designed experiments to solve problems involving the formulation of sheet materials is discussed. A specific problem and its solution are presented as a case history. In general it is found that the flexibility of the beater addition process is suitable for many gasketing applications.
