The evolution of commercial vehicles over the years, primarily in the area of aerodynamics, high torque low RPM engines, higher road speed and higher pay loads are putting increased demand on the vehicle foundation brakes. The application of a secondary device to assist in the braking, such as a retarder; addresses the braking issue and contributes to improved vehicle safety and reduced operating costs.
