Parameter Determination for the Design of Rubber Parts and Gaskets 930123
For the design and dimensioning of Elastomer parts, a knowledge of the material behaviour is an essential requirement. With the comprehension and mathematical description of the behaviour of elastomers under various loading conditions, the possibility of applying numerical methods is realised.
For determination of Material Data, the uniaxial tensile/compression tests, the biaxial tensile test and the dynamic loading under compressive strain are used. Test procedures and measuring results are introduced, and at the same time, it is pointed out that these are dependent on the Material Data of the test processes. The determined values are found in the description of the Stress/Strain ratios of Elastomers in sealing applications. Similarly, they serve for the static and dynamic selection of vibration- and noisedamping Elastomer components in internal combustion engines.
