The majority of the vehicles need a light weight high speed prime mover with the nominal engine speed above 4000 R.P.M.
However the classic DI Diesel engine design results in heavy engine structure and relatively low engine speed. The High speed DI Diesel engines converted from the gasoline engine structure lack durability and the maximal possible engine power is limited.
The new engine structure design (STEYR M1 Monoblock engine) allows DI Diesel combustion process, combined with high specific power, high engine durability and low specific engine weight.
