The following is a description of a novel approach of the application of NVH materials. It combines the unique properties of the solid materials with the flexibility of the more conventional application methods of liquid (pumpable) materials.
The objective is to develop the means to apply automatically/robotically solid NVH materials and to achieve consistent and traceable NVH properties.
The solid material can typically provide more desirable NVH properties than liquid material, however solid materials were not well suited for automatic/robotic application.
The process of delivering a solid in a defined place and form is performed by a system comprising an extruder, a robot and a substrate conditioner.
