Qualification Testing is performed to verify that component and system designs will operate successfully in their intended environment. The F-22 ECS/TMS is currently well into its component and system qualification testing. With 143 components varying widely in function and complexity, substantial experience has been gained in both design knowledge as well as understanding the value of the test process itself. This paper will address a summary of the test program efforts to date, focusing on lessons learned generally applicable to any product development effort. Specific areas to be discussed include: 1.An overview of the system functions and components. 2.A summary of the qualification test program goals and structure at component and system level. 3.Discussion of the basic test environments required. 4.Importance of a good closed loop failure reporting and corrective action system (FRACAS). 5.Key elements of an effective test program. 6.Summary of test failures experienced to date, with corresponding corrective actions/lessons learned. 7.Overview of system and flight qualification tests yet to be performed.
