Collaborative Research Center SFB 362 “Sheet Metal Technology” - Processes for Production and Applications 982373

Because of the increasing demand of lightweight construction, sheet-metals made from conventional and high-tensile steels or aluminum were developed to be a high-quality semi-finished product with a wide range of properties. Thus it was made possible to access extended and innovative techniques for the processing of sheet-metal components with complex design, such as tailored blanks, and to realize load-optimized component properties. The supposition for material-specific processing is provided by a close cooperation of a material-related and product-orientated fundamental research. Since 1993, such an interacting research-partnership between the Technical Universities of Clausthal and Hannover in Germany is represented by a “Collaborative Research Center SFB 362” titled “Sheet-Metal Technology - Processes for Production and Applications”. The SFB 362 combines the various engineering disciplines, in particular deep-drawing- and welding, materials-science,-testing, measurement and sensoring as well as design and organizational tasks in a joint scientific research project.
