This standard only defines interconnect, electrical and logical (functional) requirements for the interface between a Micro Munition and the Host. The physical and mechanical interface between the Micro Munition and Host is undefined. Individual programs will define the relevant requirements for physical and mechanical interfaces in the Interface Control Document (ICD) or system specifications. It is acknowledged that this does not guarantee full interoperability of Interface for Micro Munitions (IMM) interfaces until further standardization is achieved.

Reference Generator for a Platoon of Position-Controlled Vehicles on a Curved Path

Abstract Vehicular automation in the form of a connected and automated vehicle platoon is demanding as it aims to increase traffic flow and driver safety. Controlling a vehicle platoon on a curved path is challenging, and most solutions in the existing literature demonstrate platooning on a straight path or curved paths at constant speeds. This article proposes an algorithmic solution with leader-following (LF) communication topology and constant distance (CD) spacing for platooning homogeneous position-controlled vehicles (PCVs) on a curved path, with each vehicle capable of cornering at variable speeds. The lead vehicle communicates its reference position and orientation to all the follower vehicles. A follower vehicle stores this information as a virtual trail of the lead vehicle for a specific period. An algorithm uses this trail to find the follower vehicle’s reference path by solving an optimization problem.

This SAE Recommended Practice establishes the communication for the variety of potential functions for plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) customers. This includes features for use case items in SAE J2836/3 that may be PEV/customer optional equipment, such as AC vehicle-to-load (V2L) and AC vehicle-to-vehicle systems. These systems conform to SAE J1772 with variations required to identify to the PEV bidirectional onboard charger (OBC) the mode of operation changes and output requirements. SAE has published multiple documents relating to PEV and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) interfaces. The various document series are listed below, with a brief explanation of each. Figure 1 shows the sequencing of these documents and their primary function (e.g., the SAE J2836 and SAE J2847/1 documents start with smart charging, SAE J2836 and SAE J2847/2 then adds DC charging, etc.). The intent is to have subsequent slash sheets complement each other as more functions and features are included.

Experimental Study of High-Pressure Reacting and Non-reacting Sprays for Various Gasoline Blends

Abstract Research into efficient internal combustion (IC) engines need to continue as the majority of vehicles will still be powered by IC or hybrid powertrains in the foreseeable future. Recently, lean-burn gasoline compression ignition (GCI) with high-pressure direct injection has been receiving considerable attention among the research community due to its ability to improve thermal efficiency and reduce emissions. To maximize GCI benefits in engine efficiency and emissions tradeoff, co-optimization of the combustion system and fuel formation is required. Thus, it is essential to study the spray characteristics of different fuels under engine-like operating conditions. In this work, high-pressure spray characteristics are experimentally studied for three blends of gasoline, namely, Naphtha, E30, and research octane number (RON) 98. A single-hole custom-built injector was used to inject fuel into a constant volume chamber with injection pressure varying from 40 MPa to 100 MPa.
