This SAE Recommended Practice provides test protocols with performance requirements for camera monitor systems (CMSs) to replace existing statutorily required inside and outside rear-view mirrors for U.S. market road vehicles. This practice expands specific technical content while retaining harmonization with the FMVSS 111 rear visibility standard and other international standards. This is accomplished by defining required roadway fields of view as specific fields of view (FOV) displayed inside the vehicle. Specific testing protocols and/or specifications are added to enhance ease of use using straightforward language, and any specifications are intended to be independent of different camera and display technologies unless otherwise explicitly stated.

This list has been compiled by SAE staff from information provided by the manufacturers whose product listings appear in this document. Manufacturers wishing to list their products in this document shall: a Successfully test their hose to the requirements of SAE J1942, Table 1. b Submit a letter of certification to the SAE J1942 test requirements for each specific type of hose tested (see sample table, Table 1) along with the test results.

This SAE Recommended Practice describes the vibration durability testing of a single battery (test unit) consisting of either an electric vehicle battery module or an electric vehicle battery pack that is typically greater than 200 kg in mass and structurally integrated as part of the vehicle. For statistical purposes, multiple samples would normally be subjected to such testing. Additionally, some test units may be subjected to life cycle testing (either after or during vibration testing) to determine the effects of vibration on battery life. Such life testing is not described in this procedure; SAE J2288 may be used for this purpose as applicable. Finally, impact testing, such as crash and pothole, are not included in this procedure. SAE 2464 describes abusive/safety shock tests. Preferably, a specific vibration durability profile should be developed based on actual vehicle measurements for the specific electric vehicle application.

Machine-Learned Emission Model for Diesel Exhaust On-Board Diagnostics and Data Flow Processor as Enabler

Conventional methods of physicochemical models require various experts and a high measurement demand to achieve the required model accuracy. With an additional request for faster development time for diagnostic algorithms, this method has reached the limits of economic feasibility. Machine learning algorithms are getting more popular in order to achieve a high model accuracy with an appropriate economical effort and allow to describe complex problems using statistical methods. An important point is the independence from other modelled variables and the exclusive use of sensor data and actuator settings. The concept has already been successfully proven in the field of modelling for exhaust gas aftertreatment sensors. An engine-out nitrogen oxide (NOX) emission sensor model based on polynomial regression was developed, trained, and transferred onto a conventional automotive electronic control unit (ECU) and also proves real-time capability.

Effect of a Flush to Outer Skin Arrangement on the Aerodynamic Characteristics of Active Grille Shutters

In the present work, it is investigated how a flush arrangement to the outer skin affects the aerodynamic characteristic curve of active grille shutters (AGS). For this purpose, a recently developed theory, which analytically describes the aerodynamic behavior of AGS arranged in a straight flow channel, is extended accordingly, and the influence of an arrangement of AGS flush with the outer skin is first theoretically analyzed. The theoretical results are then validated experimentally. For this purpose, measurements of real vehicles with suitable AGS are used. The results show a good agreement of the theoretical predictions with the experiment. The theoretical and experimental analyses allow conclusions to be drawn as to how and under what conditions an arrangement flush with the outer skin affects the aerodynamic behavior of AGS.

While rules and interpretations can be expected to evolve, numerous airplanes have been approved under current and past rules that will have a continuing need for analysis of production and field modifications, alterations and repairs. The data and basic principles provided by this report are adaptable to any compartment decompression analysis requirement.
