The Trailer Simulation Model of PC-CRASH

1998-02-23
980372
The program PC-CRASH was developed for the reconstruction of vehicle accidents and considers pre-impact, collision and post-impact phases. ...The present paper describes the physical and mathematical model which was added recently to PC-CRASH in order to enable the simulation of the dynamic behavior of articulated vehicles (with both single and double axle semi-trailers and with steered trailers).

Using PC-Crash to Analyze Motorcycle Slide to Stop Dynamics

2022-03-29
2022-01-0822
Parameters such as vehicle weight, sliding friction factor, motorcycle sliding trajectory, and yaw trajectory will be accounted for in each PC-Crash simulation. All tests were simulated using a 2D and 3D motorcycle model in PC-Crash. Additionally, calculated averaged slide-to-stop decelerations and slide-to-stop distances based on physical evidence were used and verified in the PC-Crash simulation. ...PC-Crash is an accident reconstruction program that enables the user to analyze vehicle collision dynamics and trajectory models. ...This research paper presents the utilization of PC-Crash to analyze motorcycle slide-to-stop dynamics. For this study, existing motorcycle slide-to-stop data from SAE 2019-01-0426 will be simulated and analyzed in PC-Crash.

Validation of PC-Crash - A Momentum-Based Accident Reconstruction Program

1996-02-01
960885
PC-Crash is a Windows™ - based accident reconstruction program developed in Graz, Austria by Dr. Hermann Steffan. ...Hermann Steffan. PC-Crash collision analysis results are compared with previously published staged collision data. ...The staged collisions were reconstructed using PC-Crash and the trajectories were compared to actual measurements of the skid marks and rest positions.

Validation of a PC-Crash Multibody Sport Bike Motorcycle Model

2021-04-06
2021-01-0893
PC-Crash is an accident reconstruction program allowing the user to perform simulations with multibody objects that collide or interact with 3D vehicle mesh models. ...The current motorcycle models in PC-Crash are generic and do not resemble a sport bike type motorcycle. They are only globally scalable such that you cannot adjust length, width, or height independently. ...The test results were compared to parameters calculated in PC-Crash. Results such as Delta-V, yaw rate and overall post impact trajectories of the motorcycle, rider and movement of the target vehicle were compared to the data from the instrumented test vehicles.

Validation of the Coupled PC-CRASH - MADYMO Occupant Simulation Model

2000-03-06
2000-01-0471
During recent years the accident simulation program PCCRASH was developed, which allows to simulate the vehicles movement before, during and after the impact. ...Within SAE 1999-01-0444 a new coupling interface of PC-CRASH and the software MADYMO, developed by TNO in the Netherlands was published. During last year's publication only few validation cases, mainly related to rear end impacts could be demonstrated. ...One major emphasis was set on the influence of the crash pulse, which cannot be derived in PC-CRASH. In this way the paper demonstrates the possibilities as well as the limitations of the numerical model.

Validation of the PC-Crash Pedestrian Model

2000-03-06
2000-01-0847
The pedestrian model in PC-Crash is based on a multi-body system, where several bodies are interconnected by joints. Each of these bodies can have different properties to represent the different parts of the human body. ...Each of the different tests was reconstructed using PC-Crash and the pedestrian model and the significant difference between simulation results and crash tests are pointed out.

Validation of the PC-Crash Single-Track Vehicle Driver Model for Simulating Motorcycle Motion

2024-04-09
2024-01-2475
The introduction of this model eliminated prior limitations that PC-Crash had for simulating motorcycle motion. Within PC-Crash, a user-defined path can be established for a motorcycle, and the software will generate motion consistent with the user-defined path (within the limits of friction and stability) and calculate the motorcycle lean (roll) generated by following that path at the prescribed speed, braking, or acceleration levels. ...However, the model again did not utilize counter-steering to generate lean, and so it is unlikely that the steering inputs generated by PC-Crash would match the real-world steering inputs. Still, the PC-Crash single-track driver model will yield results that are typically adequate for a crash reconstruction or visualization. ...This paper validates the single-track vehicle driver model available in PC-Crash simulation software. The model is tested, and its limitations are described. The introduction of this model eliminated prior limitations that PC-Crash had for simulating motorcycle motion.

Vehicle Acceleration Modeling in PC-Crash

2014-04-01
2014-01-0464
The research reported here offers a validation of this capability, demonstrating that PC-Crash can be used to realistically model the build-up of a vehicle's speed under maximal acceleration. ...In the research reported here, PC-Crash 9.0 was used to model the full-throttle acceleration capabilities of three vehicles with automatic transmissions - a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (CVPI), a 2000 Cadillac DeVille DTS, and a 2003 Ford F150. ...In each case, the full-throttle acceleration of the vehicles modeled in PC-Crash showed good agreement with the acceleration of the real vehicles in our road tests.

Verification of ABS Models Applied in Programs for Road Accident Simulation

2010-04-12
2010-01-0070
The objective of the paper is to present the results of verification of ABS models applied in PC-Crash and HVE (Human-Vehicle-Environment) computer programs in various road conditions. The aim was reached by comparison of the road tests results obtained and calculations performed using the programs for the same initial values of the measured variables.
