AIRCRAFT SOFTWARE COMMON CONFIGURATION REPORTING

2015-07-31
CURRENT
ARINC843
This standard defines a common configuration report format that can be retrieved from an aircraft for use by ground tools and maintenance personnel. Reports will be generated in Extensible Markup Language (XML) format and structured as defined by this document. Several optional elements and attributes are defined to allow flexibility for a given report. This standard provides aircraft manufacturers, regulatory agencies, and airlines a format standard for aircraft configuration reporting, and facilitates automated comparison of configuration data reports (e.g., authorized versus as flying, etc.).

AIRCRAFT TAIL BUMPERS

1984-09-01
HISTORICAL
AIR1800
This document covers the field of civilian, commercial and military airplanes and helicopters. This summary of tail bumper design approaches may be used by design personnel as a reference and guide for future airplanes and helicopters that require tail bumpers. Those described herein will consist of simple rub strips, structural loops with a wear surface for runway contact, retractable installations with replaceable shock absorbers and wear surfaces and complicated retractable tail landing gears with shock strut, wheels and tires. The information will be presented as a general description of the installation, its components and their functions.

AIRCRAFT TIRE CONDITION MONITORING SYSTEMS

2009-11-30
HISTORICAL
AIR4830
The intent of this SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) is to inform the aerospace industry about various systems available to monitor the inflation pressure or temperature of an aircraft tire. The tire pressure indicating system (TPIS), with cockpit display, is the most widely used of all aircraft tire monitoring systems, and is detailed in this document more than other systems.

AIRCRAFT TURBINE ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENT ENDURANCE TEST PROCEDURE (ROOM TEMPERATURE CONTAMINATED FUEL)

2007-12-04
HISTORICAL
MAP749B
This recommended practice describes a method for conducting room temperature, contaminated fuel, endurance testing when the applicable specification requires nonrecirculation of the contaminants. The objective of the test is to determine the resistance of engine fuel system components to wear or damage caused by contaminated fuel operation. It is not intended as a test for verification of the component’s filter life. ARP1827 is recommended for filter evaluation.

AIRCRAFT TURBINE ENGINE SYNTHETIC LUBRICANTS AND THEIR LUBRICATING PROPERTIES

1953-01-01
530013
Synthetic lubricants are coming into prominence for lubrication of aircraft turbine engines, because of the stringent operating temperature requirements. Because many of the surfaces to be lubricated in the turbine engine operate under conditions of boundary or “thin-film” lubrication, the friction and surface-failure properties of the lubricant under these conditions are of extreme importance. In consequence, an investigation was made at the NACA laboratories of the friction properties of several classes of synthetic lubricants over a wide range of sliding velocities. Most synthetics including a diester, a polyether, a silicate ester and a phosphonate ester are more effective boundary lubricants at high sliding velocities than petroleum oils of comparable viscosity at 100° F. The breakdown of effective lubrication takes place at a much higher sliding velocity with these synthetic fluids than with the petroleum oils.

AIRCRAFT VARIABLE DELIVERY HYDRAULIC PUMPS

1959-02-01
HISTORICAL
AS595
This specification establishes the common requirements for variable delivery, hydraulic pumps, suitable for use in aircraft; and the methods to be used for demonstrating compliance with these requirements.

AIRCRAFT-ENGINE PRACTICE AS APPLIED TO PASSENGER-CARS

1923-01-01
230011
Stating that most of the copying of aircraft practice in post-war car-design has proved a failure because the fundamental difference in duty has not been realized, the author proposes to show wherein the automobile designer and the engine builder can profit by the use of practice developed for air-cooled aircraft engines and, after generalizing on the main considerations involved, discourses on the simplicity of layout of the efficient air-cooled cylinder as a preface to a somewhat detailed discussion regarding cylinder design and performance, inclusive of valve location, type of finning and form of cylinder-head.

AIRCRAFT-ENGINE RADIO SHIELDING

1942-01-01
420131
THIS paper outlines the important electrical requirements of radio ignition shielding. The reason for low resistance grounding and bonding of the shield is explained. A method for testing the resistance of plastic insulators to flash-over is suggested, and a method developed in England for reducing spark-plug electrode erosion is described.

AIRCRAFT-QUALITY STEEL CLEANLINESS Martensitic Corrosion-Resistant Steels Magnetic Particle Inspection Procedure

1991-10-01
HISTORICAL
AMS2303B
This specification covers steel cleanliness requirements for aircraft-quality ferromagnetic, hardenable corrosion-resistant steels by magnetic particle inspection methods to determine the presence of nonmetallic inclusions. Applicable primarily to blooms, billets, tube rounds, stock for forging or flash welded rings, slabs, bars, tubing, and extrusions used in fabricating parts subject to magnetic particle inspection, but may be used for qualification of a heat, melt, or lot of steel.

AIRCRAFT/GROUND INFORMATION EXCHANGE (AGIE) USING INTERNET PROTOCOLS

2014-09-15
CURRENT
ARINC830
The purpose of this document is to define a general purpose non-proprietary information exchange framework and protocol for the conduct of Internet Protocol based message traffic between aircraft and airline ground infrastructure. This standard is motivated by the vision to substantially simplify information processing management for airlines by eliminating multiple dissimilar implementations with a single universal system and thereby establishing a more economical environment.

AIRCRAFT/GROUND IP COMMUNICATION

2008-06-26
CURRENT
ARINC822-1
This specification describes the features and functionality desired of a communications link using Internet Protocols (IP) to provide services between a parked aircraft and the ground IP network infrastructure. This wireless communication link, commonly referred to as Gatelink, provides a connection between the airport and the on-board aircraft network. Gatelink will enable airlines to communicate in a secure manner with the aircraft network and appliances.

AIRFREIGHTER SUITABILITY

1956-01-01
560284
A survey of the airfreighter types in use today reveals that the majority have evolved from aircraft designed initially for the transport of passengers. Therefore, many of the design considerations, such as the general configuration, were already established prior to any contemplation of the cargo application. This paper is divided into two main sections: - A qualitative discussion of some of the basic considerations which assume major proportions in the initial conception and evaluation of an airplane whose primary function is the transport of cargo, and - The presentation of a procedure now being employed which utilizes statistical sampling and analysis to provide working data for one phase of that design.
