The Battery Performance and Cost Model (BatPaC) represents a versatile spreadsheet tool engineered for the intricate task of designing lithium-ion battery (LIB) packs. By initiating the process with user-defined specifications, such as electrode composition, energy storage requirements (kWh), pulse power demands (kW) for specific durations, fast-charging prerequisites, and adhering to a set of constraints, including electrode thickness, BatPaC adeptly computes the necessary quantities of active materials and their distribution in terms of electrode area and thickness. Employing a standardized design framework encompassing stiff pouch cells, modules, and packs, the tool subsequently generates comprehensive bill-of-materials calculations, encompassing both active and inactive materials, containment elements, and ancillary components. Additionally, it provides detailed insights into cell dimensions, weight profiles, and overall battery pack characteristics.
