Oxygen Cylinder Installation Guide

2019-04-11
CURRENT
ARP5021B
This document provides guidance for oxygen cylinder installation on commerical aircraft based on airworthiness requirements, and methods practiced within aerospace industry. It covers considerations for oxygen systems from beginning of project phase up to production, maintenance, and servicing. The document is related to requirements of DOT-approved oxygen cylinders, as well to those designed and manufactured to standards of ISO 11119. However, its basic rules may also be applicable to new development pertaining to use of such equipment in an oxygen environment. For information regarding oxygen cylinders itself, also refer to AIR825/12.

Oxygen Flow Indication

2019-01-10
CURRENT
AS916C
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) defines the overall requirements applicable to oxygen flow indication as required by Airworthiness Requirements of CS/FAR 25.1449 to show that oxygen is being delivered to the dispensing equipment. Requirements of this document shall be applicable to any type of oxygen system technology and encompass “traditional” pneumatic devices, as well electric/electronic indication.

Minimum Standard for Gaseous Oxygen Pressure Reducers

2018-10-29
WIP
AS1248B
This standard applies to pressure reducers for gaseous breathing oxygen systems and for all performance profiles without regard to particular inlet or outlet pressures. Attention is given, however, to construction requirements for reducers with maximum supply pressures to 2250 psig (155 bar) and reduced pressures of 50 to 150 psig (3.4 to 10.5 bar).
Standard

Portable Chemical Oxygen

2017-01-04
CURRENT
AS1303B
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) applies to a portable chemical oxygen generator assembly intended for the following uses: a First aid treatment of aircraft occupants after an emergency descent following a decompression or other emergency condition. b Use by cabin attendants to maintain their mobility after a decompression.
Standard

Chemical Oxygen Supplies

2014-10-30
CURRENT
AIR1133B
Solid chemical oxygen supplies of interest to aircraft operations are "chlorate candles" and potassium superoxide (KO2). Chlorate candles are used in passenger oxygen supply units and other emergency oxygen systems, such as submarines and escape devices. Potassium superoxide is not used in aircraft operations but is used in closed-cycle breathing apparatus. Characteristics and applications of both are discussed, with emphasis on chlorate candles.

2014-10-16
CURRENT
AS452B
This standard covers both general type and quick-donning type mask assemblies in the following classes: a Class A, oronasal, demand b Class B, oronasal, pressure-demand c Class C, full face, demand d Class D, full face, pressure-demand
Standard

Continuous Flow Chemical Oxygen Generators

2014-06-24
CURRENT
AS1304B
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) applies to performance and testing of solid chemical oxygen generators which produce oxygen at essentially ambient pressure for use aboard aircraft whose cabin pressure altitude does not exceed 40,000 ft (about 12,200 m). Portable chemical oxygen devices are covered by AS1303.

Useful Life Determination for Chemical Oxygen Generators

2014-02-13
CURRENT
ARP1894B
The scope of this document is to provide a guideline for the preparation of a plan for testing of inservice chemical oxygen generators to confirm their design useful life. The test program should also allow determination with a sufficient level of confidence, whether generators are suitable for further use (i.e., life extension, or if the useful life limit has been reached).

Determination of Chlorine in Oxygen from Solid Chemical Oxygen Generators

2012-10-15
CURRENT
ARP1320B
This ARP covers a procedure to be used in the determination of 0.05 to 0.3 ppm of chlorine in oxygen from any type of generator used for emergency or other life-support systems. The methyl orange method described can be considered as a referee technique. Instrumental analysis is also given in Section 8.
