Bearings, Plain and PTFE Lined, Self-Aligning

2022-02-16
CURRENT
AS8942A
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) establishes the requirements for self-aligning, self-lubricating plain spherical bearings incorporating polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in a liner between the ball and the outer race for use in a temperature range of -65 to +250 °F (-54 to +121 °C).

Plain Bearing Low Speed Oscillation Test

2021-09-28
WIP
ARP5448/3B
This test method outlines a recommended procedure for performing unidirectional load dynamic testing of self-lubricating bearings at room temperature, elevated temperature or sub-zero temperature, dry or contaminated with fluids. The wear data from these tests is to be used for qualification and to establish bearing design criteria.

Bearings, Plain, Self-Aligning, Self-Lubricating, High Speed Oscillation -65 to +160 °F General Specification For

2021-03-03
WIP
AS81819B
This standard covers the requirements for spherical, self-aligning, self-lubricating bearings which are for use in the ambient temperature range -65 to +160 °F (-54 to +71 °C) at high cyclic speeds. The scope of the standard is to provide a liner system qualification procedure for helicopter sliding bearings defined and controlled by source control drawings. Once a liner system is qualified the source-controlled bearings are further tested under application conditions.
Standard

Bearings, Sleeve, Plain and Flanged, Self-Lubricating

2019-09-16
CURRENT
AS81934C
This standard covers plain and flanged sleeve bearings which are self-lubricating by incorporating polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in a liner in the bore for use in the temperature range of -65 to +325 °F.
Standard

Plain Bearing Lined Inside Diameter Plug Gaging

2019-05-23
CURRENT
ARP5448/9B
This test method establishes a standard procedure for using plug gages to evaluate dimensional conformance of lined inside diameters of bearings. Bearings covered by this test method include sleeve bearings and lined bore spherical bearings. Note that this method gives no indication of true cylindricity.

This standard covers the requirements for spherical, self-aligning, self-lubricating, bearings which are for use in the ambient temperature range of -65 to +160 °F (-54 to +71 °C) at high cyclic speeds 300 cpm (13 fpm) for liners with a thickness less than 0.015 inch. The scope of this standard is to provide a liner system qualification procedure for helicopter sliding bearings defined and controlled by source control drawings. Once a liner system is qualified, the source-controlled bearings are further tested under application conditions. Under Department of Defense (DoD) Policies and Procedures, any qualification requirements and associated Qualified Products List (QPLs) are mandatory for DoD contracts. Any materials relating to QPLs have not been adopted by SAE and are not part of this SAE technical document.
