Static Seal Test Fixture and Procedure

2019-11-05
CURRENT
AS7982
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) provides dimensions and procedures for a standardized test fixture used to evaluate the static performance of O-rings and other seal types in glands per AS4716 and AS5857.
Standard

Silicone Rubber, 1000 psi (6.89 MPa) Minimum Tensile Strength, 45 - 55 Durometer

2019-10-25
WIP
AMS3345G
This specification covers a silicone rubber material that can be used to manufacture product in the form of sheet, strip, tubing, molded shapes, and extrusions.

This specification should not be used to address products such as O-rings, compression seals, O-ring cord, and molded-in-place gaskets. For these applications AMS specifications in the AMS7XXX series should be used.

Standard

Oil, Reference, for "L" Stock Rubber Testing

2019-06-13
WIP
AMS3020B
This specification covers a petroleum-base reference oil. This fluid has been typically used as a reference oil to estimate the ability of elastomeric compounds to conform to specified requirements after immersion at a specified temperature for a specified time and temperature as required by the material.

Rubber: Fluorocarbon Elastomer (FKM) 70 to 80 Hardness, Low Temperature Sealing Tg -50 °F (-46 °C) For Elastomeric Seals in Aircraft Engine Oil, Fuel and Hydraulics Systems

2019-05-21
WIP
AMS7410
1.1 Form This specification covers high temperature, compression set and fluid resistant fluorocarbon elastomer material to be used in the form of O-rings, compression seals, O-ring cord, and molded-in-place gaskets for aeronautical and aerospace applications. 1.2 Application These products have resistance to a variety of gas turbine engine oils, including high thermal stability (HTS) oils, fuels, and hydraulic fluids, but usage is not limited to such applications. Each application should be considered separately. This fluorocarbon (FKM) has a service temperature range of -65 to +400 °F (-54 to +204 °C) in air. 1.3 Safety - Hazardous Materials While the materials, methods, applications, and processes described or referenced in this specification may involve the use of hazardous materials, this specification does not address the hazards, which may be involved in such use.

Rubber, Silicone 1200 Psi (8.27 Mpa), High Modulus 45-55

2019-05-10
WIP
AMS3347D
This specification covers a silicone rubber in the form of sheet, strip, tubing, extrusions and molded shapes. Primarily for parts required to operate or seal from -75 to +205 degrees C (-103 to +401 degrees F), compounded especially for high strength. Silicone elastomer is resistant to deterioration by weathering and by high-aniline-point-petroleum-base oils and remains flexible over the temperature range noted. These products are not normally suitable for use in contact with gasoline or aromatic fuels and low-aniline-point petroleum-base fluids due to excessive swelling.
Standard

Ethylene Propylene (EPM) Rubber, Phosphate Ester Resistant, 55-65

2019-05-07
WIP
AMS3248D
This specification covers an ethylene propylene (EPM) rubber in the form of sheet, strip, tubing, molded shapes, and extrusions. Primarily for parts, such as gaskets, grommets, and seals requiring resistance to phosphate esters and/or to ozone. Not suitable for use in contact with petroleum base fluids due to excessive swell.

Rings, Sealing, Butadiene-Acrylonitrile (Nbr) Rubber Synthetic Lubricant Resistant 67-75

2018-10-09
WIP
AMS7272H
This specification covers a butadiene-acrylonitrile (NBR) rubber in the form of molded rings. These rings have been used typically as sealing rings in contact with diester synthetic lubricants in service up 150 degrees C (302 degrees F), but usage is not limited to such applications. The cross-section of such rings is usually not over 0.275 inch (6.98 mm) in diameter or thickness.

Rubber: Flourocarbon (FKM), High Temperature/Fluid Resistant, Low Compression Set/ 85 to 95 Hardness, For Seals in Fuel Systems and Specific Engine Oil Systems

2018-10-09
WIP
AMS7259F
This specification covers a fluorocarbon (FKM) rubber in the form of O-rings, O-ring cord, compression seals, and molded-in-place gaskets for aeronautical and aerospace applications. These products have been used typically as sealing rings, compression seals, O-ring cord, and molded-in-place gaskets in contact with air and a wide variety of fuels, lubricants, and specific hydraulic fluids but usage is not limited to such applications. Each application should be considered individually. This class of fluoroelastomers is not recommended for use in high temperature stabilized, “HTS”, engine oils. Each “HTS” oil should be evaluated separately. This fluorocarbon rubber has a typical service temperature range of -20 to +400 °F (-29 to +204 °C) in air.
