Application Development of Electric Vehicles and Hybrid Electric Vehicles Balancing Economic Objectives and Technical Requirements

2020-09-03
This course is offered in China only. More and more stringent emission and fuel consumption regulations are pushing the automotive industry towards electrified powertrain and electrified vehicles. This is particularly evident in China, where there is an increased demand for electric (EV) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEV). Infrastructure is being built across the country for convenient charging. It must now be determined how to meet the technical targets for EV/HEV regulations under economic constraints and how to best develop the major ePowertrain components (battery and motor).

Fundamentals of Powertrain Design for Hybrid Electric Vehicles

2020-09-01
Driven by high fuel prices, environmental regulations, and consumer demand, the market for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) has experienced rapid growth. Every major automotive company produces an HEV. There are approximately fifty different HEV models on the market and over eight million HEVs already sold. In order to meet current and future demands in the HEV and PHEV markets, success will depend on engineering personnel knowing how to develop and manufacture HEV powertrains. This two day seminar will cover the fundamentals of HEV powertrain design.

Principled Negotiation

2020-08-13
This highly interactive workshop focuses training on negotiation strategy and skills. This is not the manipulative, win-lose negotiation approach frequently taught today, where the winner eventually spends time and effort protecting his negotiated advantage against erosion, while the loser continually exploits loopholes and shortcuts to recover lost ground. Traditional negotiation is a wary dance based on mistrust, the true cost of which is lost in quality and brain fatigue - usually for someone other than the negotiator - over the life of the agreement.

Engine Failure Investigation and Analysis

2020-07-29
Engine failures can occur in a variety of equipment, vehicles, and applications. On occasion, a single vehicle type or equipment family will even experience multiple engine failures leading to the inevitable need to determine what the most likely cause of one or all of those failures was. This comprehensive seminar introduces participants to the methods and techniques used to understand the types of variables and inputs that can affect engine reliability and then determine the most likely cause of an individual engine or group of engine failures in the field.

Basics of Silicone Rubber Science and Technology

2020-07-16
Silicone rubber is comprised of inorganic-organic polymers. These materials consist of an inorganic backbone with organic side groups attached to silicon atoms. This family of polymers possesses unmatched versatility giving the formulator and user multiple forms and methods to cross link the polymers into rubber materials having the widest service temperature range of any rubber material. This course is designed to provide the participant with a thorough understanding of silicone’s engineering characteristics.

A Primer on Regulations and Liability Considerations for HAV’s

2020-06-18
Potential regulations surrounding the development, testing and commercial launch of Highly Automated Vehicles and possible liability exposure for the manufacturing and operation of Highly Automated Vehicles are fluid and changing areas, that will continue to evolve over the next several years. The first half of this course reviews where regulations are at the state and federal levels, what actions are currently under consideration, how current regulations will need to change to accommodate HAV’s, and how and when new regulations might be implemented. The second half covers both common law and strict liability and how it may apply to HAV’s.

Fundamentals of Vehicle Suspension Design

2020-06-17
The design and development of vehicle suspensions significantly influences vehicle handling and ride comfort. Suspension system design excellence follows the basic laws of physics using design synthesis techniques, a methodical process for suspension geometry development. Suspension geometry is the foundation of vehicle performance from which high-confidence suspension components and tunings can be developed. Suspension component design continues to move toward mass and cost efficient designs with high levels of stiffness being essential to achieving design requirements.

Introduction to Highly Automated Vehicles

2020-06-16
Every year, the U.S. experiences more than 32,000 traffic deaths and over 3.8 million crash injuries. While the trend in traffic deaths has been downward for the past decade, most of this reduction has been the result of optimizing passive occupant crash protection systems such as seatbelts and airbags. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) now offer the potential to significantly reduce or eliminate most vehicle crashes by perceiving a dangerous situation before the crash has occurred and taking action to avoid or mitigate the crash.
