Minimum Performance Standard Stall Warning Equipment

2020-12-22
CURRENT
AS8014A
This Aerospace Standard covers two basic Stall Warning Systems, one measures air flow and pressure distribution on the airfoil and the other measures the angle of airflow with respect to an arbitrary reference line. Each type of system includes, as a minimum, a sensor and the means for activating a device which warns the pilot of an impending stall.

Numeral, Letter and Symbol Dimensions for Aircraft Instrument Displays

2020-04-01
CURRENT
AIR1093B
The purpose of this AIR is to provide recommendations for the minimum dimensions of characters and symbols used in aircraft instrument dials and panel displays as related to the conditions stated in para. 3. Numerous variables influence the legibility of aircraft instrument dial characters. This situation makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to establish an exact act of rules for optimizing all installations. Character size, one of the important considerations, can be optimized where adequate dial space exists. Usually this is not the case and the designer is faced with placing the information in a limited space while continuing to strive for error-free legibility. Appropriate minimum size requirements have been stated herein for guidance in air transport use.

Barometry for Altimeter Calibration

2020-02-20
CURRENT
AIR1075B
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) is concerned only with aspects directly relating to available accuracy. While well-designed photoelectric, inductive or capacitive readers and pressure regulators, and other accessories are highly desirable for convenience and production rate, they are considered to be outside the scope of this AIR.
