Aerospace Size Standard for O-Rings

2020-09-29
CURRENT
AS568F
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) specifies the inside diameters, cross-sections, tolerances, and size identification codes (dash numbers) for O-rings used in sealing applications and for straight thread tube fitting boss gaskets. The dimensions and tolerances specified in this standard are suitable for any elastomeric material provided that suitable tooling is available.

Packing, Preformed - O-Ring Seal, Standard Sizes and Size Codes, Metric

2020-09-22
WIP
MA2010A

This standard provides the standard sizes and side identification codes for preformed packings, elastomeric o-ring seals, for use in metric aerospace fluid systems.

The aerospace o-ring sizes and size identification codes in this standard are in agreement with ISO 3601/1, Series A.

Standard

Retainers (Backup Rings), Hydraulic and Pneumatic, Polytetrafluoroethylene Resin, Single Turn, Scarf-Cut, For Use in AS4716 Glands

2020-08-25
CURRENT
AS5781B
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) specifies scarf-cut polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) retainers (backup rings) for use in glands in accordance with AS4716. They are usually used in hydraulic and pneumatic system components as anti-extrusion devices in conjunction with O-rings and other seals for static and dynamic applications. NOTE: This specification includes material tests but does not include hydraulic or pneumatic performance tests.

O-Ring Groove Design for Packing Preformed, Elastomeric O-Ring Seals, Static, Radial Squeeze, Metric

2020-08-11
WIP
MAP3440A
This recommended practice provides the design criteria for static elastomeric O-Ring seals used specifically in engine and engine control systems. It provides radial compression groove dimensions for aerospace metric O-Ring sizes specified in MA2010. The conditions considered to formulate the design criteria are also described, e.g., seal stretch, cross-section reduction, seal squeeze and swell.

Hydraulic and Pneumatic Retainers (Backup Rings), Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) Resin

2020-01-03
CURRENT
AS8791D
This specification and part standard specifies polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resin material and the dimensional requirements for scarf-cut retainers (backup rings) previously specified by MIL-R-8791 and MIL-R-8791/1. The retainers are intended for use in hydraulic and pneumatic system components as anti-extrusion devices in conjunction with seals and O-rings.

Aerospace Size Standard for Oversize O-Rings

2019-12-02
CURRENT
AS5798A
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) specifies the dimensions, tolerances and size codes (dash numbers) for O-rings with a larger cross-section than those to AS568, for use in glands per MIL-G-5514 where squeeze at low temperature is often insufficient to provide a leak-tight seal.

Retainers, (Back-Up Rings), Hydraulic and Pneumatic, Polytetrafluoroethylene Resin, Single Turn, Static Gland

2019-10-13
WIP
AS5860C
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) covers scarf-cut polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) retainers (back-up rings) for use in static glands in accordance with AS5857. They are for use in hydraulic and pneumatic system components as anti-extrusion devices in conjunction with O-rings, packings and other elastomeric seals. Because of the construction of groove dimensions, back-ups specific to rod applications are designated “R” - Rod (Female), back-ups specific to piston applications are designated “P” - Piston (Male). Retainers specified herein have been designed for a temperature range of -65 to 275 °F (-54 to 135 °C) and a nominal operating pressure of 3000 psi (20.7 MPa) for code 09 material and 5000 psi (34.5 MPa) for code 10 material. Material codes are based on AMS3678 material types.
