Procurement specification is principally for defining protection sleeves on a cable or group of electrical/fiber optic wires (wiring bundle). Single wire protection depends on the minimum diameter of the wire. Sleeve may be used to protect a wire bundle for a platform installation or for repair of installed damaged jacket or jacket/shielded wire bundles. Refer to AS50881 for aerospace wire bundle protection installations.
AS81044 covers single conductor electric wires made as specified in the applicable detail specification with tin-coated, silver-coated, or nickel-coated copper or copper alloy conductors insulated with crosslinked polyalkene, crosslinked alkane-imide polymer, or polyarylene. The crosslinked polyalkene, crosslinked alkane-imide polymer, or polyarylene may be used alone or in combination with other insulation materials as specified in the detail specification.
This specification covers 600 V heavy duty, portable, power, single and multiconductor, electrical cable for severe flexing service (see detail specifications for voltage limitations). The AS5756 insulation system has been used in aerospace ground power applications using 115/200 V (phase to neutral) at 400 Hz AC. Verification of the suitability of this product for use in other electrical system configurations (600 V, etc.) is the responsibility of the user.
This SAE Aeorrspace Standard (AS) covers the requirements for thermocouple extension cable. Manufacturers of primary thermocouple wire in accordance with this specification must be qualified to the similar wire type specified in Table 1.
This specification covers polyvinyl chloride insulated single conductor electric wires made with tin-coated copper conductors or silver-coated copper alloy conductors. The polyvinyl chloride insulation of these wires may be used alone or in combination with other insulating or protective materials.
AS22759 specification covers fluoropolymer-insulated single conductor electrical wires made with tin-coated, silver-coated, or nickel-coated conductors of copper or copper alloy as specified in the applicable detail specification. The fluoropolymer insulation may be polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVF2), ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer (ETFE), or other Fluoropolymer resin. The fluoropolymer may be used alone or in combination with other insulation materials. These abbreviations shall be used herein. When a wire is referenced herein, it means an insulated conductor (see 7.7).
