Public awareness regarding pollutants and their adverse health effects has created an urgent need for engineers to better understand the combustion process as well as the pollutants formed as by-products of that process. To effectively contribute to emission control strategies and design and develop emission control systems and components, a good understanding of the physical and mathematical principles of the combustion process is necessary. This seminar will bring issues related to combustion and emissions "down to earth," relying less on mathematical terms and more on physical explanations and analogies.

The planning route for the vehicle navigation is done through map information which is highly volatile and keep changing many at times. Existing steering assist feature during a curve is available by combining additional driver monitoring camera & 360 degree camera. The complexity is very high in the implementation and computation of these algorithm. These solutions are not cost-effective for emerging markets.
Shared mobility and Autonomous shared mobility take major share in Mobility 4.0. Personalization in a shared mobility will play a significant role in customer engagement in Autonomous world. In case of personal vehicle each customer will have their own personal settings in their own vehicle; in case of Autonomous shared mobility or shared mobility, we can satisfy individual customer need only by personalizing the vehicle for each individual user needs. This will give a cognitive feel of personal vehicle in a shared environment. We need technologies in improving vehicle interior and exterior systems and design to address personalization. We will be discussing on feasible opportunities of personalization and with illustrations in Vehicle Interior Cabin Space, Seat comfort, Compartments, Vehicle interior & Exterior Access / Controls.
This paper describes the Semi-autonomous parking assist system (SA-PAS) developed using combination of high accuracy position sensing and electronic power steering. A real-time system that helps driver to identify the parking space and assist to perform maneuvers. Parking is often a difficult task, especially for inexperienced drivers. Starting with the problem of having to find a suitable parking spot, to then maneuvering in to it without colliding with anything or anyone, while trying avoiding disturbing the surrounding traffic. The numbers of vehicles are rapidly increasing as compared to the expansions of roads and parking spaces. Therefore, effective use of the existing spaces is needed (by making them narrower), which can cause inconvenience to many drivers. Semi-autonomous parking assist system searches for suitable space and steers the vehicle into it, while driver has to control the gear shifter, accelerator and brakes.
To reduce the incidence of whiplash-associated disorders caused by rear impacts, head restraints should be closer to the head which decreases the amount of relative motion and it is believed to reduce the risk of soft tissue neck injury. Drivers are raising complaints that the head restraint causes discomfort by interfering with their preferred head position, forcing them to select a more reclined seat back angle . This paper is about the importance of head restraint system and how it can be improved by adjusting the angle between the head restraint and passenger`s head. It is essential to carry out research on head restraint that can be adjusted in forward and backward direction letting the cost of seats remain in budget.
Rocker arm in internal combustion engine is very important part which transfer the cam motion and force to the valve. In heavy commercial vehicles, the engine components are design for an infinite life (considerable higher than other components). Recently industries are working for light weight and optimized cost material. Hence it is required to have an optimized cost effective design of rocker arm without affecting its performance. A rocker arm should meet the stiffness and strength requirement. The objective of this study is to find out the alternate material for rocker arm which can provide the similar strength & stiffness as conventional rocker arm material. To achieve the performance and cost target, alternate material cast iron has been evaluated for rocker arm. Cast iron is lighter than the forged steel rocker arm, also it has a good frictional characteristic. Further bush is eliminated from the rocker arm assembly due to self-lubricant property of the cast iron rocker arm.
Since the 20th century increase in the number of cars in the major cities is been a point of concern because of the toxic gasses being emitted from the engine of an automobile. These gasses are polluting the atmosphere and degrading the air to breathe. The main gasses responsible for the degradation of air quality are carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon and oxides of nitrogen. There is a necessity to find ways to reduce the pollution emitted into the atmosphere from the automobile. The source of emission is either evaporation from fuel tank or carburetor which is easy to be dealt with or harmful gasses due to improper combustion which is a concern for the environment. The two ways to reduce these emissions are, modification in the engine to minimize the production of harmful gases and to treat the harmful gasses emitted from the engine before blowing it into the atmosphere from the exhaust. Catalysts help to break harmful gasses into smaller compounds that are environment-friendly.
