AS9145 Requirements for Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval

Production and continual improvement of safe and reliable products is key in the aviation, space and defense industries. Customer and regulatory requirements must not only be met, but they are typically expected to exceeded requirements. Due to globalization, the supply chain of this industry has been expanded to countries which were not part of it in the past and has complicated the achievement of requirements compliance and customer satisfaction. The IAQG has established and deployed the AS9145 Standard, as a step to help achieve these objectives.

Lightweight components manufactured with in-production composite scraps: mechanical properties and application perspectives

In the last years, the design in the automotive sector is mainly led by emission reduction and circular economy. To satisfy the first perspective, composites materials are being increasingly used to produce lightweight structural and semi-structural components. However, the automotive mass production arises the problem of the end-of-life disposal of the vehicle and the reduction of the wastes environmental impact. The circular economy of the composite materials has therefore become a challenge of primary importance for car manufacturers and tier 1 suppliers. It is necessary to pursue a different economic model, combining traditional raw materials with the intensive use of materials from recycling processes. New technologies are being studied and developed concerning the reuse of in-line production scraps with out-of-autoclave process that makes them desirable for high production rate applications.

Aftertreatment layouts evaluation in the context of Euro 7 scenarios proposed by CLOVE

Euro 7/VII regulations are currently under discussion and are expected to be the last big regulatory step in Europe. From available documentation, it is clear the aim of regulating the extended conditions of use which are still responsible of high emission events (e. g. cold start or altitude) as well as regulating secondary emission such as NH3, N2O, CH4, HCHO. Even if not completely fixed yet, the EU7 limits will be challenging for internal combustion engines and even more for Diesel. Despite a consistent reduction of market share, Diesel engines are expected to remain a significant portion in certain sectors such as HD and LCV for some decades. In order to reach the new limits being proposed, besides minimizing engine out emissions, Diesel powertrain will need an aftertreatment system able to work at very high efficiency right after engine start and in almost every working and environmental condition.
