Vehicle Noise Control Engineering Academy - Vehicle Interior Noise Track

2024-10-14
The Vehicle Noise Control Engineering Academy covers a variety of vehicle noise control engineering principles and practices. There are two concurrent, specialty tracks (with some common sessions): Vehicle Interior Noise and Powertrain Noise. Participants should choose and register for the appropriate track they wish to attend. The Vehicle Interior Noise track focuses on understanding the characteristics of noise produced by different propulsion systems, including internal combustion, hybrid and electric powered vehicles and how these noises affect the sound quality of a vehicle’s interior.

Eurocae WG-72 Activities

2012-03-16
The presentation provides an overview about the activities of Eurocae Working Group 72 (WG-72) starting with a brief synopsis of the context which suggested why such a committee should be established in 2006. It then goes into further detail about the drivers for the work of the committee, which call for the products to be delivered. It addresses some of the challenges with respect to its users. It points out that one of the lessons the committee learned was importance of the focus on the users, such that the products provide their maximum utility. Hence, the users should better be among the participants to achieve this objective. Other industries have dealt with the subject of Information System (or Cyber-Physical) Security long before this industry was forced to consider it. Consequently there are many industry standards and national or international norms, which may help to develop what is deemed needed for Civil Aviation.

Validating Time Triggered Ethernet on a Space Vehicle

2012-03-14
This presentation provides a overview of validating Time Triggered Ethernet (TTE) for use as the network to interconnect the avionics for manned Space Vehicle. The next manned Space Vehicle will use Time Triggered-Gigabit Ethernet (TT-GbE) leveraged from commercial development of TTE critical Intellectual Property. There are several validation considerations of either separating TTE segments or adding new TTE segments onto the network caused by the different phases of a manned space vehicle from pre-launch to re-entry. Considerable amount of validation testing has been successfully performed on TT-GbE/TTE. Presenter Victor Revelle, Honeywell International Inc.

Fiber Optic Strain Sensor Standardization - International and European Activities

2012-03-16
With the increased demand for high volume, cost-effective, fiber-reinforced thermoplastic parts, the lack of high throughput systems has become more pronounced. Thermoforming as a method to generate complex shapes from a flat preform is dependable and fast. In order to use readily available, standard unidirectional impregnated thermoplastic tape in this process, a flat perform must be created prior to the thermoforming step. Formerly, creating the preform by hand layup was a time consuming and therefore costly, step. Fiberforge?s patented RELAY technology overcomes the challenges of handling thermoplastic prepreg tape and provides a solution through the automated creation of a flat preform, referred to as a Tailored Blank?. Producing a part for thermoforming with accurate ply orientation and scrap minimization is now as simple as loading a material spool followed by a pressing a start button. Nonlinear Flutter Analysis of Curved Panel under Mechanical and Thermal Loads Using Semi-Analytical and Finite Volume Methods

2020-11-20
Abstract The vibration behavior of components exposed to aerodynamic loads must be taken into consideration when designing aerial vehicles. Numerical simulation plays a key role in developing more realistic analytical models for panel flutter analysis. The notable feature of the present research is the use of two methods for the aeroelastic analysis of two-dimensional curved panels with cylindrical bending. In the first approach, the finite volume method (FVM) is used for supersonic viscous flow and nonlinear structural model while full Navier-Stokes equations are discretized. In the second approach, the third-order nonlinear piston theory aerodynamics in addition to mechanical and thermal loads is assumed. Moreover, the semi-analytical weighted residual method for the nonlinear curved panel is utilized. These approaches are concurrently compared with each other for the first time. Furthermore, Hamilton’s principle is used and partial differential equations (PDEs) are derived.

Environmental Control Systems (ECS) for UA (Unmanned Aircraft)

2022-06-24
WIP
AIR7063
This document provides guidance for establishing ECS for UA by primarily referencing existing AC-9 documents that apply with some indication how they need to be adapted. The document primarily addresses cooling requirements for UA equipment. Limited information is provided for ECS requirements for future UA that may carry passengers. The document does not intend to provide detail design guidance for all types of UA. This document only provides guidance related to environmental control of onboard equipment, cargo and possible animals and passengers. It does not pertain to the related ground stations that may be controlling the UA.

Measurement Uncertainty Applied to Cost-Effective Testing

2013-07-09
CURRENT
AIR5925A
The report shows how the methodology of measurement uncertainty can usefully be applied to test programs in order to optimize resources and save money. In doing so, it stresses the importance of integrating the generation of the Defined Measurement Process into more conventional project management techniques to create a Test Plan that allows accurate estimation of resources and trouble-free execution of the actual test. Finally, the report describes the need for post-test review and the importance of recycling lessons learned for the next project.

CDIF - Transfer Format Encoding - ENCODING.1

CURRENT
EIAIS110
The CDIF Family of Standards is primarily designed to be used as a description of a mechanism for transferring information between CASE tools. It facilitates a successful transfer when the authors of the importing and exporting tools have nothing in common except an agreement to conform to CDIF. The language that is defined for the Transfer Format also has applicability as a general language for Import/Export from repositories. The CDIF Integrated Meta-model defined for CASE also has applicability as the basis of standard definitions for use in repositories. The standards which form the complete family of CDIF Standards are documented in EIA/IS-106 CDIF - CASE Data Interchange Format - Overview. These standards cover the overall framework, the transfer format and the CDIF Integrated Meta-model. The diagram in Figure 1 depicts the various standards that comprise the CDIF Family of Standards. The shaded box depicts this Standard and its position in the CDIF Family of Standards.

Industry Implementation of International Standard ISO/IEC 12207:1995 (ISO/IEC 12207) Standard for Information Technology Software Life Cycle Processes

2016-06-16
CURRENT
IEEEEIA12207_0
This International Standard establishes a common framework for software life cycle processes, with well-defined terminology, that can be referenced by the software industry. It contains processes, activities, and tasks that are to be applied during the acquisition of a system that contains software, a stand-alone software product, and software service and during the supply, development, operation, and maintenance of software products. Software includes the software portion of firmware. This International Standard also provides a process that can be employed for defining, controlling, and improving software life cycle processes.
