This SAE Metric Aerospace Recommended Practice (MAP) establishes the requirements for preparing a specification for fluid couplings for spacecraft servicing. The objective of this document is to provide design, development, verification, storage, and delivery requirement guidelines for the preparation of specifications for fluid couplings and the ancillary hardware for use with serviceable spacecraft designed for use in the space environment. The couplings shall be capable of resupplying storable propellants, cryogenic liquids, and gases to a variety of spacecrafts.

This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) describes equivalent type equipment and operational guidelines for a standard sine wave impulse test machine. The machine may be used for testing hydraulic tubing, fittings, hose assemblies, and similar fluid system components, if desired. The standard sine wave impulse test machine is established for the following purposes: 1 A design guide for future machines being built by manufacturers and users. 2 As a referee in the event of conflicting data from two or more nonstandard impulse machines. Such a referee machine might be built by an impartial testing activity.

This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) defines a series of standardized tube walls to be used for high pressure hydraulic tubing. These tube walls are applicable to all homogenous tube materials (i.e., aluminum, steel, titanium) throughout a rated pressure range of 1000 to 8000 psi and a maximum rated operating temperature range of 160 to 450 °F. All future aerospace applications for which a required tube outside diameter/tube wall combination is not presently available shall be selected from the table contained herein (see Figure 1).
