This SAE Standard covers general and performance specifications for hydraulic hose fittings of the styles, types, and classes defined in 2.2 and used in conjunction with nonmetallic flexible hose used in marine applications. In addition to the requirements of this document, the hose fittings shall meet the general and dimensional requirements of SAE J516. Other styles, types, and classes of fittings may be used provided they meet the general requirements of Sections 3 through 9. Four-bolt split flange type clamp halves are not within the scope of this document and are covered under SAE J518. This document does not insure compatibility between manufacturers of hydraulic hose and hydraulic hose fittings. Compatibility is the responsibility of the hydraulic hose assembly manufacturer.

Where the maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) or type of fitting is not specified, use the manufacturer's recommended MAWP or type of fitting. This list has been compiled by SAE Staff from information provided by the manufacturers whose product listings appear in this document. Manufacturers wishing to list their products in this document shall: a Successfully test their hose to the requirements of SAE J1942, Table 1. b Submit a letter of certification to the SAE J1942 test requirements for each specific type of hose tested (see sample table on page 4) along with the test results.

The previous USCG list was discontinued as of December 31, 1992, and is being replaced by this SAE listing, J1942-1. All products appearing on the USCG list as of December 31, 1992, may be carried over to the SAE J1942-1 provided they meet the new test requirements listed in SAE J1942. If your products comply, you may retain your listings with no additional testing. (Please note that the USCG has the authority to request and inspect your test results at their discretion).
