FLIGHT DECK, HEAD-UP DISPLAYS

1994-05-01
HISTORICAL
ARP4102/8
This document recommends criteria for the design and installation of Head-Up Display (HUD) systems. The recommendations are applicable to HUD systems which display flight information focused at infinity in the forward field of view. This annex does not address devices for peripheral vision or displays worn by the pilot (goggles, helmet sights).

Electronic Data Management System (EDMS)

2007-07-11
CURRENT
ARP4102/15A
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) recommends criteria for an Electronic Data Management System (EDMS) for use on the flight deck of transport aircraft. The EDMS may be the primary, and in some cases sole, on board source of documentation and information for flight operations, engineering, aircraft maintenance, cabin services, and training. This document addresses flight operations applications only. It addresses the requirements for the flight deck characteristics of airborne equipment elements for an Electronic Data Management System (EDMS), but not the ground support system requirements. Development of ground support systems for EDMS will be a significant task, which must take account of the end-user information handing requirements specified here. An Electronic Library System (ELS) is a partial implementation of EDMS, which incorporates only the data storage, retrieval and display functions.

ELECTRONIC LIBRARY SYSTEM (ELS)

1998-10-01
HISTORICAL
ARP4102/15
This document recommends criteria for an Electronic Library System (ELS) for use on the flight deck of transport aircraft. The ELS may be the primary, and in some cases sole, on board source of documentation and information for flight operations, engineering, aircraft maintenance and training. This document addresses flight operations applications only.

Flight Deck Environment

2002-12-16
CURRENT
ARP1411
This Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) is intended to specify the environmental conditions necessary to permit the operating crew of large civil transport aircraft to perform their required duties and functions in comfort, with minimum fatigue and no distraction. Environmental conditions should cause no short or long-term effects deleterious to health or physical well being, nor significantly impair ability to perform normal flight deck crew functions.

On-Board Weight and Balance System

2022-03-17
CURRENT
ARP4102/1A
This document recommends criteria for the flight deck display of an On Board Weight and Balance System. The system may have the capability of a primary operational device or be a secondary advisory source of information of weight and center of gravity position. The recommendations apply to transport aircraft and describe the operational and functional requirements for the display of an On Board Weight and Balance System.

Flight Management System (FMS)

2021-01-14
CURRENT
ARP4102/9B
This document recommends criteria and requirements for a flight management system (FMS) for transport aircraft. The FMS shall provide the functions of lateral navigation, vertical navigation, and performance management and may include time of arrival control. The FMS design shall take human factors considerations into account to produce a fault tolerant system.

Flight Envelope Awareness/Protection

2007-07-11
CURRENT
ARP4104/1
This annex recommends additional design objectives applicable when control laws or control characteristics are modified for the purpose of Flight Envelope Awareness/Protection. While only manually controlled flight is addressed, it is assumed that Autoflight, Autothrottle, or Autothrust performance is compatible.

Design Objectives for Handling Qualities of Transport Aircraft

2007-07-11
CURRENT
ARP4104
This document specifies the requirements for the design objectives for handling qualities applicable to transport aircraft operating in the subsonic, transonic, and supersonic speed range. These objectives are not necessarily applicable to rotor or VTOL aircraft.
Standard

Data Link

2016-09-28
WIP
ARP4102/13B
This document recommends criteria for a system designed to manage and communicate information via data link to support flight operations.
