The electric vehicle industry - land, water and air - is rapidly rising to become a market of over $533 billion by 2025. Some run entirely on harvested energy as with solar lake boats. This document specifies the interface and the behavior of the VHDL-AMS packages for use in modeling statistical behavior. These packages are useful in defining the statistical variation of parameters of electrical, electronic, and mechatronic components and sub-systems. These can then be used with simulation tools to analyze the performance and reliability of systems composed of these components and sub-systems. Providing a standard definition of the package interfaces and their behavior is intended to facilitate the exchange of models between component and system manufacturers and the use of different CAE simulation tools. The SAE statistical package supports the statistical modeling of design parameters subject to tolerances for designs described using the VHDL or VHDL-AMS languages.

The organization’s maturity may be measured through several capability assessment methods; this document addresses how the results of those assessments are shared within the SAE J2746 Software Assessment Repository. The repository is the online database system utilized by the SAE to facilitate accurate and secure sharing of corporations’ software development capabilities. The SAE Software Assessment Repository is a web-based repository that allows organizations that develop embedded software to post and share their assessments in a uniform, disciplined manner. The repository does not mandate the use of one assessment method over another; rather, it reports the salient results from industry accepted assessment methods.
In the analysis and measurement of residual stresses of materials, it has been noted that there are frequently differences in interpretation of the terms "macrostrain" and "microstrain." To assist communication among research personnel in this area, definitions for these two terms are suggested by the Fatigue Design and Evaluation Committee of SAE. Since "macrostress" is commonly computed from "macrostrain" in residual stress analysis, to be consistent, the definitions given are for "macrostrain" and "microstrain."
