Lubricants, Industrial Oils, and Related Products Type G Slideway Lubricants--Specification

2001-05-30
HISTORICAL
MS1007_200105
The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Industrial Lubricants Committee has developed a number of industrial, non-production lubricant performance specifications. The purpose of these voluntary SAE specifications is to: a. Define minimum performance requirements for industrial lubricants. b. Provide lubricant suppliers with performance targets for a minimum number of key industrial lubricants. Improve the availability of these lubricants to member companies. Provide a plant oriented, user friendly, classification system using common test standards and properties.

Split Type Bushings – Design and Application

2011-06-13
CURRENT
J835_201106
This SAE Standard presents the standard sizes, important dimensions, specialized measurement techniques, and tolerances for split type bushings. Both SI and inch sizes are shown; their dimensions are not exact equivalents. New designs shall use SI units. Unless specifically stated as ±, all tolerances are total.

Sleeve Type Half Bearings

2011-06-10
CURRENT
J506_201106
This SAE Standard defines the normal dimensions, dimensioning practice, tolerances, specialized measurement techniques, and glossary of terms for bearing inserts commonly used in reciprocating machinery. The standard sizes cover a range which permits a designer to employ, in proper proportion, the durability and lubrication requirements of each application, while utilizing the forming and machining practices common in manufacture of sleeve type half bearings. Not included are considerations of hydrodynamic lubrication analysis or mechanical stress factors of associated machine structural parts which determine the nominal sizes to be used, selection of bearing material as related to load carrying capacity, and economics of manufacture. For information concerning materials, see SAE J459 and SAE J460. These suggested sizes provide guidelines which may result in minimal costs of tooling but do not necessarily represent items which can be ordered from stock.

Recommended Practice for Determining Material Properties of Li-Battery Cathode Active Materials

2014-10-24
CURRENT
J3021_201410
This SAE RP provides a set of test methods and practices for the characterization of the properties of Li-battery cathode active material. It is not within the scope of this document to establish criteria for the test results, as these are usually established between the vendor and customer. It is not within the scope of this document to examine the rheological properties of the cathode material in slurry since such properties are influenced by the conductive additive and the solid loading, which are determined through discussion between the manufacturer and user. It is not within the scope of this document to examine the electrochemical properties of cathode materials since these are influenced by electrode design. The committee considers that it is impossible to establish an electrode design that would be appropriate for all cathode active materials.

Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines--Performance--Part 1: Standard Reference Conditions, Declarations of Power, Fuel and Lubricating Oil Consumptions, and Test Methods

1994-11-01
HISTORICAL
J3046/1_199411
This part of ISO 3046 specifies standard reference conditions and methods of declaring the power, fuel consumption, lubricating oil consumption, and test methods for reciprocating internal combustion (RIC) engines in commercial production using liquid or gaseous fuels. Where necessary, individual requirements are given for particular engine applications. This part of ISO 3046 covers RIC engines for land, rail-traction, and marine use, excluding engines used to propel agricultural tractors, road vehicles, and aircraft. This part of ISO 3046 may be applied to engines used to propel road construction and earthmoving machines, industrial trucks, and for other applications where no suitable International Standard for these engines exists. This part of ISO 3046 may be applied to tests on a test bed at the manufacturer's works and to tests on site.

Two-Stroke-Cycle Gasoline Engine Lubricants Performance and Service Classification

1990-10-01
HISTORICAL
J2116_199010
This SAE Standard was prepared by Technical Committee 6, Small Engine Lubricants, of the SAE Fuels and Lubricants Division. The intent is to improve communications among engine manufacturers, engine users, and lubricant marketers in describing lubricant performance characteristics. The key objective is to ensure that a correct lubricant is used in each two-stroke-cycle engine.
