Specification for O-Ring Face Seal Connectors: Part 1 - Tube Connection Details and Common Requirements for Performance and Tests

2007-02-14
HISTORICAL
J1453/1_200702
The JUN2002 edition of SAE J1453 was published as a single document covering the requirements for Inch O-ring face seal connectors with SAE J1926-2 inch stud ends. In 1995 ISO 8434-3 was published covering the requirements for O-ring face seal connectors to ISO 6149-2 metric stud ends. This revision of SAE J1453 adopts the parts covered within ISO 8434-3 and the rationalized dimensions from ISO 8434-3 for both the inch and metric stud end face seal connectors. SAE J1453 has been organized into three sections as follows: 1. SAE J1453-1 Specifications for O-ring Face Seal Connectors: Part 1-Tube Connection Details and Common Requirements for Performance and Test 2. SAE J1453-2 Specifications for O-ring Face Seal Connectors: Part 2-Requirements, Dimensions and Tests for Steel Unions, Bulkheads, Swivels, Braze Sleeve Connectors, Caps, and Connectors with ISO 6149-2 Metric Stud Ends 3.

Nominal Reference Working Pressures for Steel Hydraulic Tubing

1995-07-01
HISTORICAL
J1065_199507
This SAE Information report is intended to provide design guidance in the selection of steel tubing and related tube fittings for general hydraulic system applications. The information presented herein is based on tubing products which conform to SAE J524, SAE J525, and SAE J356, and is subject to due consideration being given to the following limitations: Since many factors influence the pressure at which a hydraulic system will or will not perform satisfactorily, this report should not be used as a "standard" nor "specification," and the values shown herein should not be construed as "guaranteed" minimum. Within the fluid power industry, many criteria are used for determining the pressure capability of tubing. Consideration is given to specified minimum yield or fiber stress factors, to calculated yield or bust pressures, and to yield or burst pressures determined by actual test. Also, varying design factors are applied, commensurate with the total system conditions.

Coding Systems for Identification of Fluid Conductors and Connectors

HISTORICAL
J846_200105
This coding system is intended to provide a convenient means of identifying the various tube, pipe, and hose fittings, not intended for use in aircraft, and of transmitting technical or engineering information relating to them wherever drawings or other pictorial media may not be readily available. The code has been kept flexible to permit expansion to cover new fitting categories or styles and, if the need develops, the inclusion of materials. The system is also compatible with automatic data processing equipment. It is not intended that this code should supersede established systems or means of identification. However, because the SAE code for automotive flare fittings shown in SAE J512 is also applicable to corresponding refrigeration fittings in SAE J513, both an SAE code and the existing code ANSI B70.1 are included throughout SAE J513. Therefore, it should be the prerogative of the user to apply that code which best satisfies his requirements.

Connector for Fluid Power and General Use - Ports and Stud End with ASME B1.1 Threads and O-Ring Seal - Part 4: External Hex and Internal Hex Inch Port Plugs - Dimensions, Design, Test Methods and Requirements

WIP
J1926/4
This part defines performance requirements, dimensions, and designs for -2 through -32 internal and external hex port plugs for use in SAE J1926-1 ports. Testing and usage through many years confirm the performance requirements of port plugs made from carbon steel. The port plugs were specified in SAE J514 without any performance requirements. They have been developed and tested to gain a 4:1 working pressure rating for industrial applications. In fluid power systems, power is transmitted and controlled through a fluid (liquid or gas) under pressure within an enclosed circuit. In general applications, a fluid may be conveyed under pressure. Components are connected through their threaded ports by stud ends on fluid conductor fittings to tubes and pipes or to hose fittings and hoses. For threaded ports and stud ends specified in new designs in hydraulic fluid power applications, only ISO 6149 shall be used.
