Autonomous Systems, 2017

2017-03-28
With a mandate in Europe for autonomous emergency braking systems, there is a development happening with radar and camera based systems to do collision mitigation. The challenges include robust object tracking, stationary object detection, reactions for false positives, etc. The developments and challenges in the collision mitigation technology are included in this collection.

In-line, Elbow, and Tee Flanged Connectors for use with SAE J518-1/ISO6162-1 Components

2015-02-03
WIP
J518/4
This document standardizes the design of connector blocks used for joining SAE J518-1/ISO 6162-1 (Code 61) flange heads with other SAE J518-1/ISO 6162-1 (Code 61) flange heads with straight, elbow, and tee geometries. The blocks specified in this document are designed to provide for very compact installations. As a result, the tap depths specified in this document do not conform to those specified in SAE J518-1/ISO 6162-1 to allow for a minimal bend radius in the elbow and tee configurations. This document specifies both inch and metric configurations

Round Head Bolts

1990-01-01
CURRENT
J481_199001
Round head bolts are made in two body styles: (a) A full size body, with a maximum diameter somewhat greater than the nominal diameter (not an SAE Standard except for ribbed neck bolts, Table 3); and (b) an undersize body, with a minimum diameter approximating the pitch diameter of the thread and a maximum diameter never exceeding nominal (SAE standard for all types except ribbed neck bolts). The body diameter of either style may be exceeded by a reasonable swelling or fin under the head, or under corners of the square necks, to the extent that serviceability is not affected.

Alignment of Nut Slots

1990-01-01
CURRENT
J484_199001
This method of gaging alignment of nut slots allows equal variations for location of the cotter pin hole in the bolt and location of slots in the nut. To inspect the nut, the slotted gage is inserted through the nut hole from the bearing surface of the nut. Alignment of slots is considered satisfactory if the gage pin can be slipped into the gage and nut slots without interference.

WIP
J3125
a) Creation of a standard specific to integration of energy storage systems into electrification of buses of all types which comprehends safety, performance, life and cost considerations utilizing worldwide standards as references in order to maximize existing work. The document applies to both purpose built electric buses and retrofit electrified buses. b) Harmonization of these existing standards achieve specific objectives that provide guidance in effective and safe designs of electrificed buses which utilize battery pack systems as the energy storage device. c) Future Considerations

Automated Driving Reference Architecture

2016-02-04
WIP
J3131
SAE J3131 defines an automated driving reference architecture that contains functional modules supporting future application interfaces for Levels 3 through 5 (J3016). The architecture will model scenario-driven functional and nonfunctional requirements, automated driving applications, functional decomposition of an automated driving system, and relevant functional domains (i.e., functional groupings). Domains include, but are not limited to, automated driving (i.e., automation replacing the human driver), by-wire and active safety, and those related to automated recovery from faults and system failures (e.g., system bringing the vehicle to a safe state). The architecture will address Tier 1 and Tier 2 functional groupings. The document will include one example instantiation being divides the functionality into two functionality groupings, and will detail the functional and information interface between the groups.

J3061-1
Review existing classification schemes from other industries and existing ideas that were presented at SAE or that may be being proposed or used in other organizations. Determine to use either an existing scheme or create a new classification scheme specific for the automotive industry from the existing or proposed methods or ideas (an integration or merging of the ideas). A Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment Method that would work with the classification scheme or from which we could map into a specific level in the cybersecurity integrity classification scheme a. This will require reviewing existing TARA methods and deciding on one or a tailored version of one Determine how to relate the ACSIL for safety-related threats to the ASIL from ISO 26262
