Wide-Body and Standard-Body Aircraft Lower Deck Cargo Compartment ULD Capacities

2022-05-04
CURRENT
AIR1869D
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) covers information relative to ULDs (Unit Load Devices) container and pallet configurations, maximum usable container, pallet and bulk compartment volumes and tare weights for the lower deck of various wide-body aircraft. Bulk compartment volumes are also included for standard-body aircraft.

Universal Turnover Build-Up Stand for Small Propulsion Units Requiring Vertical Assembly

2012-12-05
CURRENT
ARP863B
This recommended practice covers a stand that may be used for assembly, disassembly, and maintenance. The stand incorporates the following design criteria: complete interchangeability of any and all components, collapsible frame construction, envelope dimensions (marked with an asterisk on the attached drawings), attachment pad configuration, and gearbox and caster specifications.

ULD for Aircraft Transportation of Horses

2023-05-26
WIP
ARP1621D
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) defines minimum requirements for an aircraft transport ULD to transport horses properly and safely by air, to protect the horse(s) from injuries, and to protect the aircraft from corrosion created by waste spill. The ULD is designed to accommodate one horse or several.

ULD for Aircraft Transportation of Horses

2012-11-26
HISTORICAL
ARP1621B
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) defines minimum requirements for an aircraft transport ULD to transport horses properly and safely by air, to protect the horse(s) from injuries, and to protect the aircraft from corrosion created by waste spill. The ULD is designed to accommodate one horse or several. There are two types of ULDs for aircraft transportation of horses: a Type 1: The ULD is an airworthiness certified structural container, satisfying the requirements of NAS 3610 for the appropriate base size. b Type 2: The ULD consists of a self-contained stall which is positioned on a standard aircraft pallet and restrained to the pallet by means of a cargo pallet net or by straps. WARNING: It is the carrier’s responsibility to obtain airworthiness approval for a Type 2 unit using strap-restraint. Refer to 7.1 b (Documentation).

Shipping Caps, Covers and Plugs

2017-11-06
CURRENT
ARP5862
The primary purpose of the shipping closure is to protect the aircraft parts or system from damage and foreign material ingress/egress (e.g., dust, dirt or other contaminants) during transport and storage. Shipping closures are not airworthy items. Therefore, their usage is defined as preventative for the parts to be protected as opposed to operational. Military and commercial customer requirements for the prevention of damage or contamination to stored parts are generally limited to the generic instructions “all openings should be sufficiently covered to prevent the entrance of dust, dirt, moisture or other foreign contaminants”. This recommended practice outlines basic minimum parameters for suggested item construction and usage. Additionally, this recommended practice provides instruction on how to apply these closures to various openings.

Minimum Requirements for Air Cargo Unit Load Device Ground Handling and Transport Systems

2011-09-07
CURRENT
ARP1372C
The requirements of this SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) are applicable to ground handling and transport systems equipment which is designated to accommodate main deck unitized cargo in the form of intermodal containers and other compatible unitized load devices. Intermodality in the context of this document concerns primarily air and land modes but does not exclude the marine mode. Equipment with compatibility features for other than main deck cargo is likewise not excluded. It is not the intent of this document to specify equipment design but rather to ensure interface compatibility of the various elements which might make up a total ground handling and transport system developed within a number of different operational schemes. It is the intent of this document to specify minimum ULD handling and restraint features to ensure future interchange capability.

METHODOLOGY OF CALCULATING AIRCRAFT CARGO VOLUMES

1995-03-01
HISTORICAL
AS1825A
The scope of this SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) shall cover the methodology of defining and determining the "internal volumes" of both the main deck and lower deck aircraft cargo compartments. The minimum required clearance between the compartment envelope and the unit load devices (ULDs) shall also be stated in order to provide the maximum ULD external contour and the methodology to define the ULD internal volumes.

Interline Air Cargo Pallets

2023-01-13
CURRENT
AS1491B
This SAE Aerospace Standard specifies the dimensional, design criteria, fabrication, performance, operational, environmental, and testing requirements for interline pallets requiring airworthiness approval for loading onto civil transport aircraft equipped with NAS3610/AS36100 restraint systems and using pallet nets meeting the requirements of AS1492. Type II/2 covers NAS3610/AS36100 code sizes. Type III pallets have been removed from this SAE Aerospace Standard revision.
