CODING SYSTEMS FOR IDENTIFICATION OF FLUID CONDUCTORS AND CONNECTORS

1993-12-16
HISTORICAL
J846_199312
This coding system is intended to provide a convenient means of identifying the various tube, pipe, and hose fittings and of transmitting technical or engineering information relating to them wherever drawings or other pictorial media may not be readily available. The code has been kept flexible to permit expansion to cover new fitting categories or styles and, if the need develops, the inclusion of materials. The system is also compatible with automatic data processing equipment. It is not intended that this code should supersede established systems or means of identification. However, because the SAE code for automotive flare fittings shown in SAE J512 is also applicable to corresponding refrigeration fittings in SAE J513, both an SAE code and the existing code ANSI B70.1 are included throughout SAE J513. Therefore, it should be the prerogative of the user to apply that code which best satisfies his requirements.

Connections for General Use and Fluid Power - Ports and Stud Ends with ASME B1.1 Threads and O-Ring Sealing - Part 1: Threaded Port with O-Ring Seal in Truncated Housing

2023-01-17
CURRENT
J1926/1_202301
This part of SAE J1926 specifies dimensions for fluid power and general use ports with inch threads in accordance with ASME B1.1 for use with adjustable and nonadjustable stud ends and plugs shown in SAE J1926-2, SAE J1926-3, and SAE J1926-4. Ports in accordance with this part of SAE J1926 may be used at working pressures up to 63 MPa for nonadjustable stud ends and up to 40 MPa for adjustable stud ends. The permissible working pressure depends upon materials, design, working conditions, application, etc. For threaded ports and stud ends specified in new designs for hydraulic fluid power applications, only ISO 6149 shall be used. Threaded ports and stud ends in accordance with ISO 1179, ISO 9974, and ISO 11926 shall not be used for new designs in hydraulic fluid power applications.

FITTING - O-RING FACE SEAL

1989-06-01
HISTORICAL
J1453_198906
This SAE standard covers material, dimensional, and performance requirements of steel O-ring face seal fittings for tubing and the O-ring face seal interface and nut portion of hose stem assemblies for nominal tube or hose diameters 6.35 mm (0.250 in) through 38.1 mm (1.500 in). These fittings are intended for general application and hydraulic systems on industrial equipment and commercial products, where elastomeric seals are acceptable to overcome leakage and variations in assembly procedures. These fittings are capable of providing leak proof full flow connections in hydraulic systems operating from 95 kPa (28 in Hg) vacuum to working pressures shown in Table 1 below. Since many factors influence the pressure at which a hydraulic system will or will not perform satisfactorily, these values should not be construed as guaranteed minimums.
