The paper present a 3D vehicle dynamics model of the urban concept JUNO, designed and built at the Politecnico di Torino, to optimize fuel consumption performance and to predict the behaviour in real road conditions. The model, developed using Siemens Simcenter Amesim platform, consider forward resistance, aerodynamic forces, altimetry changes and tires rolling resistance. To have the correlation between simulation and track performances, in the model has been implemented a Single-Track Model, including vehicle rotation around its roll axis, and a 3D representation of the racetrack, with an automatic trajectory following control implemented. This has been fundamental to consider the lateral dynamics, which cannot be neglected in simulating its performances on track. Analysis of suspension geometry, vehicle mass distribution and tire characteristics are made to define the parameters of the model, which is used to prepare the optimal race strategy for the competition.
