Capacity Rating--Dozer Blades

2003-05-08
CURRENT
J1265_200305
This standard applies only to straight, angling, semi-U, and U-blades for crawler and wheel tractors. It applies to angling blades only in the straight (not angled) position. This standard does not apply to angled blades or other tools used to side cast materials, nor does it apply to any blade with design features such as end plates extended beyond the blade face. This standard assumes the blade face to be flat and vertical, and does not consider the blade included volume (Figure 1). Although provisions are presented for some deviations, this standard is intended for rectangular blades whose width/height ratios are at least 1.0. Purpose The purpose of this standard is to provide a uniform method for calculating the capacities of dozer blades. It is intended for relative comparisons of dozer blade capacity, and not for predicting capacities or productivities in actual field conditions.

Capacity Rating--Elevating Scrapers

1975-06-01
HISTORICAL
J957_197506
This SAE Standard specifies a procedure for approximating the volume of a typical material carried in the bowl of an elevating scraper as defined in SAE J728 and SAE J1057. The volumes are based on the inside dimensions of the bowl and a representative volume on top of the bowl. This rating method is intended to provide a consistent means of comparing capacities; it is not intended to define actual capacities that might be observed in any specific application.

Capacity Rating--Loader Bucket

2000-02-07
CURRENT
J742_200002
This standard applies to buckets of loaders (as defined by SAE J1057a, Identification Terminology of Earthmoving Machines). This method applies primarily to buckets having parallel sides and a cutting edge parallel to the top edge of the top edge of the back sheet. Moderately clipped back sheet corners will introduce no appreciable errors. Bucket teeth, tooth adapters, as well as other similar local discontinuities are ignored. a. Interpretation of irregular shaped cutting edges is identified in 4.4. b. Interpretation of irregular shaped side sheets is identified in 4.5.

Capacity Rating--Loader Bucket

1985-02-01
HISTORICAL
J742_198502
The purpose of this standard is to provide a uniform method for determining the SAE struck capacity and rated capacity. The volume calculations used results in a realistically conservative heaped volume. The calculations are based on the inside physical dimensions of the bucket only without regard to bucket action provided by any particular machine. for rating purposes, a nominal heaped load with a 2:1 angle of repose is to be used with bucket orientation dictated by the strike plane defined in paragraph 3.1. This in no way implies that the loader linkage must carry the bucket oriented in this attitude, or that all materials will naturally have a 2:1 angle of repose. This standard applies to buckets of loaders (as defined by SAE J1057a, Identification Terminology of Earthmoving Machines). This method applies primarily to buckets having parallel sides and a cutting edge parallel to the top edge of the top edge of the back sheet.

Capacity Rating-Dozer Blades

1988-03-01
HISTORICAL
J1265_198803
The purpose of this standard is to provide a uniform method for calculating the capacities of dozer blades. It is intended for relative comparisons of dozer blade capacity, and not for predicting capacities or productivities in actual field conditions. Such determinations would need to consider other parameters, such as efficiency of the blade design, tractor powder, tractive effort, soil properties, terrain, operator technique, and duty cycle. This standard applies only to straight, angling, semi-U, and U- blades for crawler and wheel tractors. It applies to angling blades only in the straight (not angled) position. this standard does not apply to angled blades or other tools used to side cast materials, not does it apply to any blade with design features such as end plates extended beyond the blade face.
