EXCAVATOR, MINI-EXCAVATOR, AND BACKHOE HOE BUCKET VOLUMETRIC RATING

1993-06-01
HISTORICAL
J296_199306
This SAE Standard provides a uniform method for determining rated and struck capacity for buckets used on excavators, mini-excavators, and backhoes as defined in SAE J1057 and equipped with hoe attachment. Calculations are based on the inside physical dimensions of the bucket only, without use of optional side cutters, spill guards, teeth, or other accessories and without regard to bucket action provided by any specific machine. This document does not cover shovel, clam, or dragline buckets described in SAE J67 or loader buckets described in SAE J742.

HYDRAULIC BACKHOE LIFT CAPACITY

1986-03-01
HISTORICAL
J31_198603
This standard applies to hydraulically operated backhoes (see SAE J49). This standard describes a uniform "over end" and "full swing arc" lifting capacity rating for backhoes. It is based on the actual capacity of the machine to lift and support a load under stable conditions. Rated lift capacities will be specified for both the boom and the dipperstick and will be shown on a lift capacity chart Figure 1.
Standard

HYDRAULIC EXCAVATOR DIGGING FORCES

1977-03-01
HISTORICAL
J1179_197703
This Recommended Practice applies to mobile hydraulic excavators which are either crawler or wheel mounted, with or without outrigger members. (A mobile hydraulic excavator is defined as “a self-propelled machine with an upper structure capable of continuous rotation and which digs, elevates, swings, and dumps material by action of the boom and arm or telescoping boom with bucket.”)
Standard

HYDRAULIC EXCAVATOR LIFT CAPACITY RATING

1975-02-01
HISTORICAL
J1097_197502
This standard applies to hydraulic excavators which are either crawler or rubber-tire mounted, with or without outrigger members. (An excavator is defined as "a self-propelled machine with an upper structure capable of continuous rotation and which digs, elevates, swings, and dumps material by action of the boom and arm or telescoping boom with bucket.")

Hydraulic Backhoe Lift Capacity

2007-04-13
HISTORICAL
J31_200704
This standard applies to hydraulically operated backhoes (as defined in SAE J1116) This standard describes a uniform "over end" and "full swing arc" lifting capacity rating for backhoes. It is based on the actual capacity of the machine to lift and support a load under stable conditions. Rated lift capacities will be specified for both the boom and the dipperstick and will be shown on a lift capacity chart Figure 1.
