The Bluestop chrome coating process from Nelson offers protection for chrome-plated exhaust components against discoloration. The multi-step, clear-ceramic coating process features temperature resistance greater than 1000°F (538°C) and will be offered on all Nelson chrome-plated exhaust components, from mufflers to heat shields. As chrome-plated components are exposed to surface contaminants and multiple heat cycles, particularly from high temperatures generated by recent changes in emissions technology, the unintended effect is surface discoloration that ranges from gold to deep blue. Discoloration has threatened to end the use of chromed exhaust pipes, but Bluestop both prevents and protects against surface contaminants, increasing corrosion resistance and removing discoloring.
