GoMentum Station and Tilke Join the International Alliance for Mobility Testing & Standardization (IAMTS)

New Alliance Partners Further the Growth of the Standardization and Certification of Advanced Mobility Systems and Services

WARRENDALE, Pa. (October 10, 2019) – The International Alliance for Mobility Testing & Standardization (IAMTS) today announced that GoMentum Station and Tilke have joined the alliance. IAMTS is a global, membership-based alliance of stakeholders in the testing, standardization and certification of advanced mobility systems and services.

“With the addition of GoMentum Station and Tilke, we add an innovative proving ground in San Francisco Bay Area and a German engineering firm for racetracks and proving grounds,” said John Tintinalli, director of innovation, SAE International and secretariat, IAMTS. “This is what IAMTS is about—creating a diverse community that represents every facet of the mobility testbed.”

GoMentum Station is the largest secure testing facility for connected and automated vehicle technology in the United States and is owned and operated by AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah. The organization provides comprehensive programs for companies to test autonomous vehicles (AVs) and deploy their technologies in various public-private programs to benefit communities in California and beyond.

“We are thrilled to be the first North American test facility to join IAMTS and look forward to working together to make global specifications for standardized AV testing a reality,” said Ignacio Garcia, vice president, autonomous vehicles strategy, AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah. “AV technology has the potential to save millions of lives, and it is critical that we ensure the technology is developed and tested in a safe way before it is on public roads.”

Tilke is the largest and most influential designer for racetracks and automotive proving ground facilities in the world. Renowned for their state-of-the-art test and proving grounds, Tilke has completed more than 1,000 projects in more than 50 countries. The company is passionate about designing and realizing innovative solutions to meet the future demands of automotive testing and is currently developing the most innovative proving ground for highly autonomous connected vehicles to be rolled-out on a global basis.

“It is exciting to be a part of such an important organization in the transformation of the automotive industry,” said Dr. Carsten Tilke, CEO, Tilke. “Tilke understands the test scenarios and requirements of a broad range of manufacturers, suppliers, government, academia and other institutions, and we look forward to applying our experiences to enhance the quality of the IAMTS outputs, and the safe testing, development and deployment of future mobility.”
