Safety is at the Hub of the 42nd Annual SAE International® Brake Colloquium & Exhibition

From AI to ADAS and ICE to EVs, Industry Experts will Share the Latest Insights on Advancing the Most Important Safety Feature in Today’s Vehicles

WARRENDALE, Pa. (June 25, 2024) – The annual SAE International® Brake Colloquium & Exhibition brings together the brightest minds in the braking industry to share the latest developments in the ever-evolving world of braking systems. This year’s event is happening September 15-18, 2024, at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.

The Brake Colloquium’s dual-track program – created for engineers by engineers – covers the entirety of brake componentry with a focus on the latest strategies being employed in alignment with latest technologies like Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Automated Vehicle (AV) safety systems in both Internal Combustion and Electric Propulsion Vehicles. Presentations and panels will be led by high-level experts, business development specialists, standards developers, and technical solution providers from OEMs and Tier I & II suppliers.

This year’s event features a Fireside Chat on the topic of “ADAS Influences on Brake Systems” with Brian Hagman, president, Hagman Media, and “The Brake Report,” sitting down with David Kidd, senior research scientist, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. These industry insiders will have an open conversation about critical technologies, consumer acceptance and regulations impacting those working on safety systems for the automotive industry, with a specific focus on automatic emergency braking (AEB) and automation.

Technical session topics include:

  • Where is EURO7 Emission Regulation Going, and What Will its Impact be on the USA

  • Impact of AI and Mechatronics on Braking Development

  • Critical Braking Issues Related Commercial Vehicles

  • Friction Advances in Brake Component and Brake System Design

  • Improving Brake Noise, Vibration and Harshness Performance

  • Aftermarket Considerations
